The Ohio State Buckeyes may have missed the NCAA Tournament this season, but that does not mean all hope is lost.
When asked about the 2022-23 season, Buckeyes fan James Ferrell had positive things to say.
“This wasn’t the best year, but I’m always looking foward to the next.” Ferrell said, “I think we’re in for a better year.”
However, he did mention missing them during March Madness.
“It did feel weird to not see them on a bracket at all though.”
The Buckeyes finished the season with a record of 16-19. They went 5-15 in conference games and overall, finished 13th in the Big Ten.
This is the first time since 2016-17 that the Buckeyes did not make the tournament. They made the tournament every season since then starting with the 2017-18 season, with the 2019-20 season being an exception. That was around the start of the pandemic and the year that the NCAA Tournament was canceled. Otherwise the Buckeyes made at least made the tournament and sometimes they would advance to the second round.
The Ohio State men’s basketball team did not make the tournament, but on the flipside, the women’s team made the tournament, and advanced to the Elite Eight before losing to the No. 1 seed Virginia Tech.
“The women’s team played good. I hope they keep playing at the level they did this year. I was impressed.” Ferrell said.
The men’s and women’s basketball teams had different paths this season, but regardless of what happens next, fans are ready to cheer them on.
