St. John Arena has quite the history. The Ohio State Buckeye men’s basketball team first played their in 1956, and they stayed there until 1998. Other sports played in the arena, and up until 2019, wrestling and men’s and women’s gymnastics still competed in the arena.
And with recent news, it looks like it is finally the end of an era. The school has decided to take down the scoreboard (which was installed in 1987), to avoid any accidents or worse, having the scoreboard collapse.
For fans who attended games at St. John Arena, the scoreboard may bring back memories. And despite the scoreboard’s removal, those memories will last forever.
